CINCINNATI, OH, November 29, 2017 – More than two dozen manufacturers/marketers of inventive design elements for hospitality interiors received Best of BDNY Product Design Awards at Boutique Design New York (BDNY), held Nov. 12-13, 2017, at New York City’s Javits Convention Center. Sixteen of the 700+ manufacturers/marketers exhibiting at BDNY received Best Exhibit honors. All winners will be featured in the December issue of Boutique Design magazine.

The Best of BDNY Product Design Competition recognizes designers and manufacturers of products introduced to the hospitality design market in the past year that demonstrate functional and aesthetic progress and, above all, innovation in their respective category. Winners in ten product categories are selected by a jury of design professionals; trade fair attendees vote on-site to determine the Best of Show Award winner.

The Best of BDNY Product Design competition was judged by Katie Liberman, designer, Simeone Deary Design Group; Annie Masincupp, designer, Streetsense; Steve Rugo, principal, RugoRaff Ltd. Architects; and Alyssa Smith, interior designer, Gensler.

The Best of BDNY highlights hospitality design trends that have been known to cause ripples in the interior design world with new and innovative products,” said Alyssa Smith, interior designer at Gensler. “These trends have major influences on F&B, wellness, education and even workplace design; most recently in creating a desire of lifestyle design in all types of projects. Hospitality product design is at the crux of this innovation.”

BEST EXHIBIT WINNERS

Sixteen BDNY exhibitors received Best Exhibit honors at this year’s trade fair. Displays were judged on creativity in design, visual impact, effective and efficient use of materials and the outstanding use of space, color, texture, lighting and graphics.

The 2017 Best Exhibit at BDNY Award winners are: B+N Industries, Bermanfalk, Flexsteel Contract, Kohler Co., Pendulux and RH Contract.

Finalists are: Composition Hospitality, Decolav, LebaTex Inc., Littman Brands Contract, Moore + Giles, Renwil Hospitality, Summer Classics, Tarkett, Tilebar and Williams-Sonoma Contract.

Exhibit judges included Stacy V. Elliston, principal, Studio 11 Design; Kelly Gaddes, director, interior design, CR architecture + design; and Natalie Sheedy, owner, Natalie Sheedy Interiors, Inc.

Both the Product Design Competition and Best Exhibit Competition will resume during the sixth annual BDwest, April 4-5, 2018, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
