Hospitality Excellence Awards Recognize Simoncelli as Top General Manager Among Marriott’s Luxury Hotels in the U.S. and Canada

CHICAGO, IL (September 21, 2026) – The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago’s Peter Simoncelli has been named General Manager of the Year across Marriott’s luxury hotels in the United States and Canada as part of the company’s Hospitality Excellence Awards.

The honor recognizes an exceptional general manager who demonstrates outstanding leadership and operational excellence while driving strong business performance, creating a positive and collaborative team culture, and delivering remarkable guest experiences. 

With deep roots in the Chicago area and more than 30 years of hospitality experience, Simoncelli has built his career around a people-first approach to leadership, including previous roles at Four Seasons and Westin Hotels & Resorts.

At The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, Simoncelli has overseen a transformative, multi-phase renovation spanning the hotel’s suites, lobby, Club Lounge, restaurant and ballrooms, with spaces reimagined to draw inspiration from Chicago’s architecture and lakefront setting. The hotel’s wellness experience has also evolved under his leadership through an expanded spa and fitness center and a greater emphasis on personalized treatments and holistic well-being.

Simoncelli has also held leadership roles with several of the city’s hospitality and business organizations, including serving as past chairman of the Magnificent Mile Association. He has supported local charitable and community organizations and initiatives ranging from Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago and Holy Name Cathedral to Cradles to Crayons and Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly.
