NEW YORK, NY – August 6, 2025 — Republic Investment Company and Capstone Equities have acquired the Smyth Tribeca, a 100-key boutique hotel located at 85 West Broadway in the heart of Tribeca. As part of the strategic acquisition, the partners have tapped Rebel Hotel Company to operate and lead the property’s luxury repositioning, with a focus on elevating the guest experience and reinforcing the hotel’s standing within the competitive Tribeca landscape.

With 88 thoughtfully designed guestrooms and 12 expansive suites, many featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, Carrara marble bathrooms, and private terraces, Smyth Tribeca blends understated elegance with modern comfort. The hotel is home to two distinct food and beverage venues from Mercer Street Hospitality: Smyth Tavern, serving elevated American fare with a raw bar and dry-aged steaks, and Galerie Bar, a moody cocktail bar known for its curated art, fireplaces, and craft cocktails.

Originally opened in 2009, the hotel has received over $10 million in capital investments between 2018 and 2023, including a Meyer Davis–designed lobby refresh, suite enhancements, and a reimagined fitness center. These upgrades have laid a solid foundation for the next phase of thoughtful luxury enhancements planned for 2026.

This acquisition marks the seventh New York City hotel acquired by Republic and Capstone, joining notable properties including The Renwick, Ink48, and Life Hotel New York.  Founded in 1983, Republic brings over four decades of experience to the table and, with this latest addition, aims to build on its longstanding family legacy and continued expansion in the hospitality sector.

The hotel’s nearly 7,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor private event space, including the penthouse suite and cellar-level Red Room, make it an ideal setting for corporate events, private brand activations, and high-end gatherings. Surrounded by some of the city’s best dining, boutique shopping, and contemporary art galleries, the hotel places guests in the heart of Tribeca’s sophisticated downtown lifestyle. With unmatched access to 17 subway lines and proximity to Brookfield Place, the 9/11 Memorial, and Hall des Lumières, Smyth Tribeca’s location remains a standout for both leisure and business travelers.
