IHG Has Unveiled a Modern and More Cost-Efficient Design Prototype For Future New-Build Holiday Inn Express Hotels

The revamped Formula Blue 2.2 model is the latest evolution of the brand’s signature Formula Blue concept, which originally debuted in 2014 and ranks as the most popular design initiative in Holiday Inn Express’ three-plus decade history.

Formula Blue 2.2 features purposeful, contemporary design styles and modifications that reflect the brand’s commitment to delivering improved owner economics and guest experiences. Holiday Inn Express hotels in the Formula Blue 2.2 design will feature:

• •  An increased key count from 93 to 104 with room for additional suites (and revenue potential) within the existing efficient site size
• •  A redesigned exterior featuring bold colors and using simplified construction means
• •  A streamlined building layout allowing for more flexible indoor/outdoor pool placement options and right-sized parking and landscaping
• •  Maximized “heart of house” efficiency through a simplified wall configuration, fewer doors and better-positioned staff areas.
