CHICAGO — July 28, 2026 — Travelers are increasingly seeking authentic cultural experiences that extend beyond traditional sightseeing. As a result, Hotel Communication Network (HCN), the hospitality industry’s leading provider of in-room guest engagement technology, and Artography Limited, a technology and licensing company built around a proprietary portfolio of more than 200,000 licensed visual and photographic artworks, announce a new partnership that will transform hotel guestrooms into interactive digital art galleries.

Through the smart in-room HCN Tablet platform, guests staying at participating four- and five-star hotels across the United States and Canada can browse, discover, and purchase from one of the world’s largest privately held licensed art collections. Purchases are delivered directly to guests’ homes or businesses after their stay, allowing travelers to bring home a lasting reminder of their journey.

“Today’s guests expect hotels to deliver experiences that are as memorable as the destinations themselves,” said Kevin Bidner, HCN CEO. “Hotels have invested significantly in creating beautiful environments through architecture, interior design and curated artwork. By partnering with Artography, we’re extending that experience into the guestroom, giving travelers the opportunity to discover and own exceptional artwork while creating additional value for our hotel partners. It’s another example of how our platform continues to evolve beyond guest communications into a true guest-engagement ecosystem.”

Meeting Cultural Tourism Demands

This partnership arrives as cultural tourism continues to gain momentum worldwide. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, nearly one-third of international visitors to the United States include museums or art galleries in their travel itineraries, while industry research shows travelers are increasingly selecting destinations based on their arts, culture, and creative experiences. At the same time, luxury and lifestyle hotels have embraced curated artwork, local artists, and gallery-inspired public spaces as important differentiators that create a stronger sense of place.

  • Cultural and heritage travelers spend an average of $994 per trip and contribute more than $192 billion annually to the U.S. economy.
  • According to the Ontario Arts Council,30% to 45% of leisure travelers will visit an art gallery or museum when travelling. The type of traveler is also important to note: 25% to 40% of General Leisure guests are likely to visit an art gallery while traveling; 35% to 50% of Urban Leisure guests will likely visit a gallery; 40% to 60% of International visitors to major cities; and 50% to 70% of Self-Identified Arts/Culture guests.
  • The global art tourism market is projected to exceed $54 billion by 2030, driven by travelers seeking immersive cultural experiences rather than traditional sightseeing.
  • According to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Survey of International Air Travelers, 28.3% of international visitors to the U.S. visit art galleries or museums during their trips, making art one of the country’s leading leisure activities.
  • UN Tourism estimates that roughly 40% of international travelers participate in cultural tourism, and those travelers typically stay longer and spend more.

HCN’s collaboration with Artography extends the cultural experience into the guestroom. Instead of simply viewing artwork displayed throughout the hotel, guests can now immerse themselves in an expansive digital collection, learn about featured artists, discover works inspired by destinations around the world, and purchase pieces that resonate with their travel experience.

“Art has the power to inspire, transform spaces and create lasting memories and emotional connections,” said Roger Maggio, Managing Director of Artography Limited. “Our relationship with HCN represents an important milestone in making exceptional licensed art more accessible to travelers while creating meaningful commercial opportunities for artists. It also allows guests to continue their travel experience long after they return home by surrounding themselves with artwork that reminds them of the places they have visited.”

New Revenue Opportunity

For hotel operators, the HCN/Artography partnership represents more than an enhanced guest amenity. It introduces a new ancillary revenue opportunity while reinforcing the property’s positioning as a destination for culture, creativity and memorable experiences. Because the platform operates entirely through HCN’s existing in-room tablets, hotels can offer the service without adding operational complexity or labor.

“The new digital art experience complements HCN’s growing portfolio of guest services available through its in-room smart tablets, which already provide hotel information, local recommendations, dining options, guest services, entertainment and personalized offers,” said Terry Donnelly, HCN Chief Revenue Officer. “By integrating Artography’s extensive collection directly into the tablet platform, HCN continues expanding the ways hotels can connect guests with meaningful experiences while generating incremental revenue opportunities.”

This hospitality initiative represents the first phase of Artography’s broader commercialization strategy, which also includes immersaAI™, the company’s applied artificial intelligence platform developed for the global architecture and interior design industries.
