Ribbon Cutting Marks Return of Tribal-Owned Property and Continued Investment in Southeastern Connecticut’s Tourism Economy

MASHANTUCKET, Conn. — The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN) reopened Two Trees Inn on May 1, 2026, and marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 12. The reopening represents the return of the Tribal-owned property following its closure during the COVID-19 pandemic and reflects continued investment in the region’s tourism and hospitality industry.

As part of the reopening, MPTN has partnered with Waterford Hotel Group, a Connecticut-based hospitality management company, to operate the property and further enhance the guest experience.

Located in Ledyard, just minutes from Foxwoods Resort Casino, Two Trees Inn provides a relaxing retreat and a premier Tribal-owned destination for visitors to southeastern Connecticut. Since opening in 1993, the pet-friendly Inn has been known for its wooded surroundings, access to Lantern Hill trails, a landscaped courtyard, and its proximity to major regional attractions, including Lake of Isles and the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. The Inn also welcomes guests back to its reopened restaurant, now open to both hotel guests and area visitors.

The property underwent a series of updates ahead of its reopening, including upgraded guest rooms with modern amenities, refreshed common areas, enhanced fitness and business centers, and revitalized outdoor spaces featuring new landscaping, patio furnishings, poolside improvements, and environmentally conscious operational enhancements.

“The reopening of Two Trees Inn represents an important step in our continued efforts to strengthen southeastern Connecticut’s tourism economy and create new opportunities for local employment,” said Rodney Butler, Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. “We are proud to welcome guests back and partner with Waterford Hotel Group, whose experience and commitment to hospitality excellence make them an ideal fit for this next chapter.”

“It’s a privilege to stand alongside the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation as we celebrate the reopening of Two Trees Inn,” said Len Wolman, Chairman of Waterford Hotel Group. “We are proud of this partnership and to welcome the associates of Two Trees Inn, who will bring this property to life and define the guest experience every day.”

The reopening of Two Trees Inn underscores MPTN’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its hospitality offerings, supporting local jobs, and contributing to the region’s economic growth.
