Colorado Springs, CO— November 3, 2022 —Jack Damioli, President and CEO of The Broadmoor, announced today that Abby Murtagh is joining the resort as Vice President and Managing Director. 

Ms. Murtagh will bring a fresh perspective as she oversees the resort operations for the 104-year-old property. Her focus is executing strategies that contribute to the resort’s financial success. A key element of her role will be to maintain and improve the resort’s legendary Forbes 5-star, AAA 5-diamond service and enhance the property’s coveted culture. She will begin her tenure with The Broadmoor on January 4, 2023.

In addition to The Broadmoor’s daily resort operations, she will oversee the other unique experiences that lend to the resort’s fame, including Seven Falls and the Wilderness Experience boutique camps portfolio, featuring The Ranch at Emerald Valley, Cloud Camp, and the Orvis Endorsed Fly-Fishing Camp.

Ms. Murtagh’s career spans famed hospitality resorts and experiences ranging from the islands of Hawaii and the skyscrapers of Manhattan to properties in Salt Lake City, UT and Phoenix, AZ. Most recently, she led the renovation as the General Manager of the legendary Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf Astoria Resort with more than 700 guest rooms, significant event space, a wide variety of restaurants and bars, as well as comprehensive spa and wellness facilities. Prior to that, she was the General Manager at the Hilton Salt Lake City. Before her career moved “out West,” she was the Resident Manager at the Waldorf Astoria New York in Manhattan. She was the Director of Food & Beverage at the Hilton Waikoloa, Hawaii, among other hospitality positions.

A native of Pennsylvania, Ms. Murtagh earned her Bachelor of Science at the School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University.  Abby looks forward to relocating to Colorado Springs with her husband, Tony, and their two teenage children, Patrick and Caroline.
